Master Philip D Holmes Talks About

THE RED FIELD
The Portal Between Heaven & Earth, Where Ki Resides ...

There are many mysteries that permeate our world, and none more intriguing than the Oriental theory of ‘The Red Field’. This is considered to be a special area in the lower abdomen, between the Kidneys, where the original, Pre-Heavenly Ki is stored. This phenomenon is acknowledged and utilised both by traditional Oriental doctors and martial artists alike. The quality of the Ki that we receive at conception will have a great influence on our lives. However to a certain extent, we can either strengthen or weaken this primordial energy. On this workshop, we will explore the Red Field, and discuss practical ways we can enhance our strength and power, in relation to our martial arts training and which in turn, may enable us to live a longer and healthier life...

NOAH EVANS – WKSA KUK SOOL WON WORLD GRAND CHAMPION!
Eastbourne Herald Newspaper Report October 2014

1st Degree black belt Noah Evans aged 16, from ‘The Martial Arts Centre - Eastbourne’ travelled to Houston, Texas last week to compete in the World Kuk Sool Championships 2014. Having dominated his age category for several years on this side of the Atlantic, winning every international title in Europe, Noah was keen to compete on the world stage. Ten years of dedication to his training and relentless practice was rewarded by winning the 1st degree Youth Grand Champion Award. This prestigious honour is given to the competitor that accumulates the most points in each division. Noah achieved this by winning four gold medals and one silver in the five compulsory disciplines, in a category that contained some of the world’s finest young martial artists. Whilst in Texas, Noah trained alongside the Kuk Sool Won Korean Demo team and several US Masters invited him to train at their schools prior to the event which proved to be not only inspirational, but a great help in his preparation for the competition.  After winning the World Championship, the most prestigious of his nine Grand Champion awards to date, Noah stated “So many people have put a tremendous amount of time and effort into helping me achieve this dream, from Senior Master Philip D Holmes, my Chief Instructor Robin Holmes and my fellow instructors, right through to the young white belts that I help to teach, all have had an input to this success in some way.” Next month Noah will promote to 2nd degree black belt whilst attending the annual WKSA UK Tournament to be held in Liverpool. There, a new set of challenges will await, in a group in which he will be considered very much the new boy against competitors with vastly more experience. With The Martial Arts Centre – Eastbourne’s new, full time Dojahng opening this week, this will no doubt help in his preparation for the event. School owner and Senior Master Philip D Holmes 8th degree, said of Noah’s success: “Although a student has to have a teacher to learn his skill from, it is what the student does with that skill that is the deciding factor between success or failure. JKN Noah has taken the skills he has learnt, and far surpassed anything that his teachers have taught him. He is a truly inspiring young martial artist and if tennis was his game, his name would be Andy Murray!”

PRESSURE POINT Strikes
To Be (To Heal), or Not to Be (To Hurt), That is the Question … ?

The Oriental acupuncture/martial arts pressure point system is a complex science and can take many years to master. Using age-old theories and principles, it is possible, with the minimum amount of effort, to inflict the maximum amount of damage, to subdue an unwanted attacker.

However, pressure points are very specific and require precision strikes to be effective. On this workshop, we will learn how to use X-Ray vision, to be able to accurately identify a few deadly points that can be used in a fast-moving attack situation.

Talks about the  Philosophy of
YU - WON -  HWA
Water - Circular - Harmony
Principles Used in the Martial Arts

The Oriental theory of YU WON HWA, encompasses three complex philosophical principles which are not easy to understand. It could be said that the philosophy of YU, WON, HWA is a reflection of life itself. We can either observe and accept the natural world around us, and the way of things, or we can ignore and oppose the natural world, at our peril. However, the principles of YU, WON, HWA, are not a great secret. If we take the time and look more closely, we can see these principles at work within us and all around us. On this workshop, the principles of YU, WON, HWA will be explained philosophically through discussion and practically, by using the example of an attacker's strike, and a martial arts student’s response to it.
